Pi Kappa Phi Centennial a Success!

Delta Beta Chapter was well-represented at the AUG 04 meeting by the following alumni: Dick Baker, DB195; Garrick Hill, DB522; Todd Granger, DB516; and Burton Williams, DB323. The active chapter had three Brothers there as well. You missed a great event and everyone got to meet thousands of Brothers from all over the world. A Brother who was initiated in 1932 was the oldest initiate there and the guest speaker, Senator Lindsay Graham of SC was the model initiate. The hurricane that was supposed to hit SC hard didn't, but it did make for easy entry to any bar or restaurant you wanted to go into since everyone had left town. Please visit the website to view pictures of the Centennial and famous Pi Kapp landmarks around Charleston.

Here is the quote from the National Webpage: “August 13-17 2004 will go down in Pi Kappa Phi history as one of the most memorable Pi Kappa Phi events. Over 1,000 Pi Kappa Phi brothers, friends and families attended the 49th Supreme Chapter and the Centennial Celebration of 100 years of brotherhood. During the celebration the fraternity dedicated a 48 foot bell tower to the College of Charleston to solidify 100 years on the founding campus. The gift joins the Pi Kappa Phi Gate (25th anniversary gift), the Clock a top of Randolph Hall (50th anniversary gift), and the Rose Garden (75th anniversary gift).

Not only did attendees participate in Supreme Chapter and the gift dedication, they also witnessed and participated in the Push America Summer Teams Arrival at the Cistern. The Build America, Journey of Hope North & South, and the Centennial Ride Along Teams were welcomed by hundreds of brothers, friends, & family members at the Cistern, on the College of Charleston campus.”
